Shire of Blackwater, Kingdom of Aethelmearc

Welcome to the Shire of Blackwater! The Shire of Blackwater encompasses Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties in southwestern New York state and is part of the Kingdom of Æthelmearc in the Society for Creative Anachronism.

The SCA is an international organization dedicated to the study and recreation of the arts, sciences and pastimes of history from the Dark Ages through the Renaissance. Interests and activities can include such varied pursuits as fighting, cooking, sewing and embroidery, calligraphy and illumination, music and dance, and general camaraderie. Anyone may participate, so come play with us!

Our local Twelfth Night celebration will take place on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Masonic Temple Building, 124 N. Union St., Olean. The evening begins at 4:00 p.m. with a brief business meeting, and continues until 9:00 p.m. with games, gifts, a potluck dinner and fun!
